Description:

Gavrilin was a Soviet Russian composer who was sent to an orphanage at the age of 10 and, after his musical talent was recognized, studied at the Leningrad Conservatory. Until his death at the age of 59 from a heart attack, he composed numerous works, primarily in the fields of ballet, opera, film music, and vocal music. His song cycle Russian Notebook (included on this labels release NF/PMA9955) is relatively well known. All tracks on this recording are world premiere recordings and, as of 2018, the only available recordings of these works.
