Alden Hellmuth, a New York-based saxophonist and composer. He has released a new album following his 2024 debut album *Good Intentions*, which won the German Jazz Prize. Consisting of eight tracks, this album traverses jazz, punk, and free-form improvisation, centering on the concept that no matter how intensely or chaotically the band plays, that “tether” always connects the performers, the listeners, and the exhilarating experience. Inspired by the double-bass lineups in the free jazz of Ornette Coleman and Andrew Hill, the album features two bassists, Logan Kane and Miller Wrenn, along with drummer Justin Brown (Thundercat, Aja Monet), delivering a collection of tracks centered around rich, deep bass tones.
