A collaborative project by clawhammer banjo player Allison deGroot and Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Rich Ruth. deGroot, whose musical background lies in old-time, bluegrass, and folk, and Ruth, who fuses ambient, spiritual jazz, minimalism, and post-rock, began collaborating after Ruth produced deGroots solo work. They spent about a year producing the album in Nashville, applying loops and delays to the banjo and fusing it with synthesizers to create a sound that harmonizes the raw vitality of acoustic instruments with the expansive quality of electronic sounds. The album also features Patrick MGonigle on violin and Spencer Cullum of Shrunken Elvis on pedal steel guitar.
