The worlds first recording of a string quartet collection performed on period instruments!A collection of string quartets by violinist and composer Heinrich Anton Hoffmann (17701842), who was born in Mainz, Germany, around the same time as Beethoven. Famous during his lifetime as a violin virtuoso, he met Mozart and performed with him when he was sent to Frankfurt for the coronation of Leopold II. Although his compositions primarily consist of works for string instruments, these string quartetsin which each voice is independent and meticulously craftedreveal his keen sense of style.
