[Kruitans Lucerne Live! His Signature Franck and Khachaturian with the Young I. Oistrakh]Kruitan appears in the LucerneFestivalHistoricPerformances series, in which the audite label, in partnership with the Lucerne Festival, is reissuing historic recordings. This release features two pieces from the final concert of the 1954 Lucerne Festival. For the Belgian-born Klyutans, Francks symphony was one of his most thoroughly mastered works. Having recorded it in session with the French National Radio Orchestra in 1953, his performance here firmly grasps the works cyclical structure while delivering a dynamic, undulating interpretation marked by dramatic peaks throughout. The second half of the album features Khachaturians Violin Concerto, performed by the then 23-year-old Igor Oistrakh. Although he was still a student at the Moscow Conservatory at the time, he had won first prize at the 1952 Wienia
