A heartfelt album by Schiff, dedicated to the early works of a newly discovered great composerBrahms: Piano Miniatures by Hungarian pianist Andrs Schiff is being released on the ECM New Series. It is a 2-CD set. The albums opening track, Albumblatt, was written in 1853 when Brahms was 20 years old and was discovered by British conductor and musicologist Christopher Hogwood. Hogwood also edited the piece according to the Brenreiter edition. In 2012, Schiff was invited by BBC Radio in the UK to give the pieces first broadcast performance, and the beauty of the work became a topic of much discussion at that time.
