As a soloist on the lute, theorbo, and Baroque guitar, as well as a chamber musician and continuo player, he has performed with Les Arts Florissants, La Symphonie du Marais, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, Les Folies Franaises, and Opera Fuoco, and has contributed to more than 40 albums to date. Together with his partner, keyboardist Kae Hatano, he frequently performs in Japan. A collection of lute works by Franois Dufau (1604c. 1672), one of the most famous lute players in 17th-century France during the French lute revolutionan era that began with the new tuning system established by the elder Gautier.
