While she specializes in Romantic works by composers such as Schumann and Liszt, on this album she performs Brahmss austere Piano Concerto No. 1. The B-side features the rarely heard Piano Concerto by Hermann Gtz. Getz, a composer born slightly after Brahms who studied under Hans von Blow, wrote this concerto in B-flat majorthe same key as Brahmss Second Piano Concertobut unlike Brahmss work, which is essentially a symphony with piano, this piece features a piano part that takes center stage, making full use of dazzling technical virtuosity.Naxos Japan
