A recording of French organ music performed on the organ at St. Jacobs Church in Ilmenau, a town located right in the heart of Germany, roughly halfway between Dresden and Frankfurt am Main. The current organ was built in 1911 by the Walcker company in Ludwigsburg; it underwent restoration in 19921993 and again in 2017, and retains the majestic sound characteristic of early 20th-century organs. Works by Marcel Ranketui (18941985) are relatively rare.Andreas Markwald is a German organist born in 1981. He has served as cantor at St. James Church since 2012.Tobu Shoji Co., Ltd.
