Since its founding in 1987, Anima Eterna Bruggeled by early music keyboardist Jos van Immerseelhas expanded its period-instrument repertoire from the Classical to the Romantic periods and on into the 20th century and in recent years, the ensemble has broken new ground! As if returning to the small ensemble format of its early days, the group has increasingly turned its attention to chamber music. While their previous album featured Mendelssohns Octet, this release takes a further step by presenting Schuberts Octetwhich Schubert himself described as the first step toward a symphony for a large orchestraalongside the Grand Septet by the Swedish master Berwald.
