A live album by the distinctive pianist Batagov. In the first half, featuring Bachs chorale preludes arranged by Busoni (Tracks 4, 6, 8, 10), Batagov adds his own unique touchessuch as incorporating preludes based on the chorale melodiesoffering a distinctive interpretation that is uniquely his own, as he peers into the depths of the works at a leisurely tempo. This provides a striking contrast to the more dynamic works by Rameau and Bour. The second half, meanwhile, features a completely different direction: film music by Michael Nyman. True to Batagovs own career as a film composer, he brings out the brilliance of these works as pure music through his unique pacing and dynamic progression.
