Andrzej Panufnik (19141991) was a 20th-century Polish composer, conductor, and pianist. In recent years, his daughter, Roksana Panufnik (b. 1968), has also become widely active as a composer. This recording features Panufniks major chamber music works, including all three of his string quartets and Homage to Chopin. Homage to Chopin (Hommage Chopin) was composed in 1949 on commission from UNESCO to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chopins death; the original version is scored for soprano and piano. Panufnik
