A superb recording of the Matthew Passion with the finest sounds of King’s College Chapel in the most realistic way, the Matthew Passion by England’s world-renowned King’s College Choir of Cambridge is now available. Conductor Stephen Cleobury passed away in November 2019, a little over six months after the recording, and this performance can be considered a memorial recording. The boys’ chorus is also unified by King’s College. The orchestration is by the Academy of Ancient Music, one of the most prestigious academies in England, and the soloists include Gilchrist, a world-famous tenor well-known for his performances of Gardiner’s Passion and other works.
