An album commemorating the 60th birthday of Dieter Aman, a unique Swiss composer known for his work in free jazz and improvisation. Since the early 1980s, Aman has played bass, trumpet, and keyboards in the free jazz band DonkeyKongs MultiScream, performing at international festivals. At the same time, he studied music theory and composition at the Basel Academy of Music and took master classes with Wolfgang Rihm and Witold Lutosawski. He has also gained recognition as a composer of contemporary music. This album features unbalanced instability, originally written as a violin concerto, and the orchestral trilogy Core, Turn, and Boost. Core and Turn were commissioned by the Lucerne Festival, and Pierre Boulez, who conducted the premiere of Turn, praised the work for achieving the paradox of taking spontaneity to the highest level of artistry.
