To commemorate the 40th anniversary of soprano Barbara Hendricks singing career (she debuted in 1974), a deluxe two-disc set has been released,featuring highlights of the arias and art songs she has recorded over the years for various labels.As a child, Hendricks witnessed racial discrimination in the American South and grew up experiencing it herself. She was one of the first Black students admitted to college (she first earned a degree in mathematics and studied vocal music afterward). She made her debut in both opera and recital in 1974, and her subsequent brilliant career is well known to all. While pursuing her career as a singer, she has also devoted herself to supporting refugees and has received various awards as an activist; her presence has become incredibly significant to the world. This Musical Portrait is a compilation that serves as a portrait of Hendrixa woman who wishes to
