Description:

Beirut’s first new work in two years is a playful work that combines the worlds of circus and fiction. This work was commissioned by Victoria Dalborg, director of the Swedish contemporary circus company Kompani Giraff, to compose music for a new performance based on the novel by Yudit Sharansky. The theme of Sharansky’s novel and the circus performance based on it is “loss” and “the impermanence of everything in this world,” and “what is lost” is expressed in various forms, including extinct animal species, lost architectural and literary heritage, and the abstract concept of loss through aging. From works using acoustic instruments to new experiments with modular synths.
