A collection of choral works by British composer Jonathan Rutherford. At the age of 10, he enrolled in the newly opened Yehudi Menuhin School of Music. While studying under Nadia Boulanger, he also studied with Lennox Berkeley and others. In addition to his career as a pianist, he has composed numerous works as a choral composer, spanning both sacred and secular music. This album is a follow-up to *I Slept and Dreamed that Life was Beauty* (ORC100249) and, like its predecessor, features a well-balanced selection of sacred and secular works. It includes Advent carols inspired by the Book of Isaiah, music from his own opera *The Star-Child*based on a libretto by Oscar Wildeas well as the meditative and beautiful Music for Good Friday.Naxos Japan
