• During their, very short, creative period in the 1970s, they unfortunately did not celebrate great commercial success – despite great praise from critics. Only in the 90s, two decades later, when world famous bands like R.E.M. called Big Star very influential for their music, the Power Pop-Rock Band from Tennessee was again noticed.
  Strongly influenced by the sound of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Byrds, they are still considered the unofficial founders of alternative and indie rock today. Musicians and bands like Beck, Garbage, The Bangles, Nada Surf, The Replacements and many more. covered their songs and paid tribute to them personally – with songs like “September Gurls”, “Blue Moon”, “Kangaroo” and “Thirteen”.
