A back-to-back classic of British pub rock is finally here: Brewer’s Droop, a five-piece from High Wycombe in southern England in the early ’70s, were one of the lesser-known, but still one of the best pub rock acts of their time, along with Brinsley Schwartz, Bees Make Honey, Chili Willi Red Hot Peppers, and others. This disc is one of the pub-rock acts of the time. This is their first album, released in 1972, and although the band broke up in 1974, it is well known that Mark Knopfler was a member of the band during its last few months. The recordings from that time saw the light of day in 1989 as the delayed second “Booze Brothers” (recorded at Rockfield Studios and produced by Dave Edmonds) to take advantage of the popularity of the Knopfler-led Dire Straits.
