However, he never published a collection of his works during his lifetime, and the pieces that have been passed down to posterity through manuscript scores are shrouded in mystery. In particular, the pieces included in the Boan Manuscriptone of the most important historical sourcesare often attributed simply to Mr. Couperin, making it impossible to identify them definitively as Louiss compositions. Since he had two younger brothers, and both his father, Charles Le Grand Couperin, and his older brother, Franois (I), were keyboard
