It was co-produced by Prince Thomas and Emil Nikolaisen of Serena Manishknown for his releases on 4AD! The sound transforms Velvet Underground-style psychedelic rock into a dance-ready format, with the lead singers husky, downer vocals flowing thickly through it, expressing a kind of mad beauty. The overall distorted soundperhaps a result of mixing by Bob Weston (Shellac)adds to the albums unique character.
