This is the debut album by Cellofonix, a quartet of cellists based in London. Bound by a high level of expertise and a deep bond of trust, they are actively engaged in premiering newly commissioned works and rediscovering forgotten masterpieces. All eight tracks on this album are original works for cello quartet. The album opens with Bowens Suite, whose manuscript was discovered among his grandfathers belongings by member Ben Rogerssonwhose grandfather was the former principal cellist of the Halle Orchestra. Long believed to be lost, this piece captivates with its 18th-century-style expressiveness. Elms Divertimento, with its striking contrast between rich tones and jazz-like rhythms; Mariposa, which depicts the long journey of the monarch butterflyknown for its migrations across the North American continent; Sutherlands Hope, which is structured around his own haiku-style poetry; Barkers Tree
