Description:

During this European tour, Chet Bakers quartet recorded two sessions on October 11 and 14 in addition to their concerts; however, pianist Dick Zwajzik died of a drug overdose on the 21st, immediately following those sessions. However, Chet chose not to return to the United States but to continue performing in Europe, which led to this recording. The group evolved from his regular combo into a band featuring local European musicians, performing a repertoire centered on standards. This recording stands in stark contrast to *Vol. 1*. The photo is a single shot taken at Magellan Studios on October 14, 1955 (during the *Vol. 1* session), before the tragedy occurred.
