Music Inspired by a Historic, Sacred Island Where Pilgrimage and Song ConvergeA work inspired by Lindisfarne, a sacred island boasting one of the most beautiful landscapes in the British Isles. Lindisfarne is a historic tidal island located off the coast of Northumberland in northeastern England. It can only be reached via the causeway at low tide and is cut off from the mainland by the sea twice a day at high tide. It is known for the ruins of an ancient monastery and a castle, and is also renowned as the birthplace of Christianity in Northern England. The music was composed by British saxophonist and composer Christian Forshaw. He has collaborated with artists such as Brian Eno and Hugh Jackman, and his music blends elements of folk, classical, sacred, and contemporary music. On this album, Forshaw performs and multi-tracks pieces originally written for saxophone and vocals, adding multi
