A Painting in Sound: Nystrms Symphony, Brimming with Love for the Boundless SeaThe modern Swedish composer Josta Nystrm (18901966) composed six symphonies during his lifetime. BIS has already released four of them, which have remained long-selling titles, and with this release, the complete collection is finally complete. The Short Symphony, which is his First Symphony, was composed during Nystrms time in Paris. It bears the influence of Impressionism. Symphony of the Sea, considered Nystrms masterpiece, is dedicated to sailors active across the seven seas, and clearly bears the mark of his deep affection for the sea and the shore. Ernman delivers a fine performance of the vocal piece based on a poem by Swedish poet Eba Lindqvist.King International
