He had been scheduled to visit Japan in the fall of 2013 for the first time in seven years, but this tragedy occurred shortly after his concert was canceled due to health reasons.This video captures the memorial concert for Abbado held in April 2014. The program was designed to pay tribute to Abbados music. The disc opens with the second movement, Funeral March, from Beethovens Symphony No. 3, Eroica, which Abado performed at the 2013 opening concert of what would be his final Lucerne Festival.
