An album by Cordone, a duo featuring a mezzo-soprano, lute, and theorbo, which reportedly formed in a rehearsal room at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in Belgium, sparked by a shared interest in the music of John Dowland. The two, having hit it off, traveled together to England, where they studied Dowlands music under renowned soprano Emma Kirkby and others. This album features an exceptionally ambitious program that, in addition to the Dowland music at its core, includes works by other composers from Dowlands era as well as 20th-century chansons.
