Pianist Cordelia Williams has released three albums on the SOMM label to date. This latest album was conceived with the idea of creating music that offers comfort to those spending sleepless nights in loneliness and anxiety. It features a diverse collection of pieces, ranging from the melancholic Lonely Pavane for These Troubled Times by the Renaissance composer Tomkins to Bill Evanss PeacePiece. Mozarts Fantasy, in which dreams and nightmares intertwine, followed by Scriabins Sonata No. 2, composed of two movements that depict the calm and the storm of the night sea; after a moment of respite with Liszts Consolation, the album features Schuberts Sonata No. 19, with its thrilling musical ideas that seem to wander through the pitch-black darkness of the night.
