As you may know, the Salzburg Festival is held at the same time as the Bayreuth Festival, so it does not usually stage Wagner operas. This was a special production, and as such, it was staged with great care and dedication.Above all, the staging by the currently hugely popular Norwegian director Stefan Heirheim was extremely well-received. Recognizing that *Die Meistersinger* is a story set around the summer solstice, Herheim staged itmuch like *A Midsummer Nights Dream*as a dream sequence of Sachs-Wagner, successfully creating a *Die Meistersinger*
