Description:

Davidovich was born in Azerbaijan during the Soviet Union era and shared the first prize at the 4th Chopin Competition in 1949 with Cerny-Stefanska. She was especially good at Chopin, but Beethoven’s First Concerto, which marked her debut at the age of 10, is also included on this album. The mother of violinist Dimitri Sitkovetsky, she later fled to the U.S. and is now active mainly as a teacher of younger musicians, but this 2-CD set of recordings from her heyday offers beautiful performances with a unique sense of scale.
