De La Souls fourth studio album, *Stakes Is High*, released in 1996, was praised by critics for its music, lyrics, and its message addressing the artistic decline of rap music that had begun in the mid-1990s. The title track and first single were produced by J Dilla. The second single from the album is Itzsoweezee (HOT), featuring vocals by Dave alone, and its creative music video is also outstanding. It also includes the third single, 4More, featuring Janay. This album served as a launching pad for future star rappers and actors, such as Mos Def, who appeared on the track Big Brother Beat, and Common, who is featured on The Bizness.
