In July 1983, at the Istanbul Music Festival, Idil Billett performed Rachmaninoffs Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Dmitriev, and astonished the audience with her overwhelming performance.
