A collection of works by composer Chen Xiaoyong, who was born in China, studied composition at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and moved to Germany in 1985 to study under Gyrgy Ligeti at the Hamburg Academy of Music.Viewing the compositional process as a form of musical communication, he consistently produces unexpected sounds; on this album as well, he creates innovative soundscapes through his attempts to fuse the timbres of Western musical instruments with those of traditional Chinese instruments.Naxos Japan
