A production that saw the Teatro La Fenice pull out all the stops!!The latest DVD in DYNAMICs Teatro La Fenice series features Meyerbeers rare opera, *The Crusade in Egypt*. Born in Germany, Meyerbeer was an opera composer who gained such popularity in Italy that he was regarded as a rival to Rossini. *The Crusade in Egypt* was his final work from his Italian period. It premiered at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in March 1824 and was a tremendous success. However, Mayr-Beuer moved to Paris shortly thereafter, and having achieved great success with grand opera, he effectively set aside the operas from his Italian period. As a result, *The Crusades in Egypt* also fell into obscurity. This recording captures the La Fenice production in January 2007, 183 years after the premiere. In addition to a stellar castled b
