Naxoss Music of Brazil series is a projectpart of the Brasil em Concerto initiative led by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairsthat focuses on introducing works that are significant in the history of Brazilian music but have not yet been recorded.This album features works by Brazilian composer Jos Antonio de Almeida Prado, who was active from the late 20th century through the early 21st century. Prado was born in 1943. He began his career as a composer by studying neoclassicism and traditional folk music under Camargo Guarnieri, and in the late 1960s, he became deeply immersed in avant-garde music. In 1969, after winning first prize at the Guanabara Music Festival, he moved to France, where he studied under Olivier Messiaen and Nadia Boulanger.
