This is the true grace of a queen. The renowned pianist Erika Morini (19041995) was born in Vienna and, because she was of Jewish descent, based her career in the United States beginning in 1938. She was such a child prodigy that she performed with the great conductor Nikisch as early as 1916. Although she is sometimes regarded as a phantom artist due to her limited number of recordings relative to her fame, she was actually active well into her later years. It seems she was simply not interested in making recordings. Her artistic style was the very embodiment of nobility and elegance, making full use of her delicate, beautiful tone. She is a renowned female artist who embodies Viennese elegance. The fact that Szell is her accompanist is particularly moving. Szell had previously conducted the Vienna Philharmonic in a studio recording of this Beethoven piece with Hubermann as his accompanist, an
