Samuel Barber, an American composer best known for his Adagio for Strings, was also an accomplished baritone with formal training, and the numerous art songs he composed have become an essential part of the repertoire for singers in the English-speaking world. At a time when many American composers of Barbers generation were strongly influenced by experimentalism, Barber set himself apart by pursuing traditional harmony and melody.This two-disc album, curated by Dylan Pereza London-based art song accompanistfeatures all of Barbers works published both during his lifetime and posthumously, including numerous world premiere recordings.
