A collection of contemporary works by double bassist Frank Reinecke, who was a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1984 to 2024. The program features iv18, a commissioned work by Marc-Andr, which explores the moment when sound fades away, and Flucht by Nikolaus Brass, which explores the supple movement of sound and the deep resonance inherent to the double bass. Reinecke premiered both of these works. Stockhausens In Freundschaft employs a formal technique in which a short, central theme is progressively developed and ornamented throughout the performance.
