This album brings together three lesser-known violin sonatas by three great 20th-century composers. Ravels sonata is a song celebrating the joyful encounter between solemn beauty and the delight of the blues. It is known as his final chamber music composition. Respighis work is truly magnificent, yet it has been unduly overlooked. Granadoss single-movement sonata is a beautiful fusion of Spanish folk music and Romantic music. The performer, Sais, is a young female violinist from the Netherlands. She is the winner of the 2005 Long-Thibaud International Competition. Her supple musicality is captivating.
