79 Live” captures Friction’s live performance at Kyoto’s Crucifixion in December 1979, four months before the release of their first album “Friction”, a brilliant masterpiece in the history of Japanese punk. This live performance, which has been described as Friction’s best performance, was released in 1980 as a private 10-inch LP, and only a few enthusiasts were able to experience it. This legendary live performance, which Reck himself called “a miracle,” has been reissued on 10″ based on a CD made from newly discovered tapes in 2005. The performance is overwhelmingly intense, with Friction at the peak of their powers just a few months before the release of “Friction”. Lek’s vocals are especially powerful throughout the entire album. The album includes “Pistol” and “Kagayaki,” which were not included in “Friction.
