Rautavaara: Songs with OrchestraSongs of My HeartRautavaara himself arranged for orchestra a collection of songs he composed in his twenties based on poems by Shakespeare and Rilke. His love for poetry, which deepened with age, is expressed here as Romantic music imbued with new hues. The Way of God, a collection of religious and metaphysical songs based on texts by Bo Setterlind. Four songs from the opera *Alexis Kivi* (three songs, excluding the third, O World, O Life), which sing of the inner world of the poet Kivi. The soloist on this album is the Stockholm-born baritone Gabriel Suovanen (1977). On the complete recording of *Alexis Kivi* (ODE1000), he sang the role of the young Kivi. He is joined by Segerstam (1944), who recorded *The Angel of Light* (ODE869), and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
