• Founded in Leeds in 1977, the Gang of Four produced some of the best albums of the early English post punk era. Her first single in 1978 brought her a contract with the major label EMI. The debut album Entertainment! then appeared in 1979 in the line-up of Andy Gill (guitar), Jon King (vocals), Hugo Burnham (drums) and Dave Allen (bass).
  Their sound was a kind of stripped-down mix of punk rock, funk and dub, with political texts that made the dire conditions in politics and social interaction a topic and became a style-forming element for the genre.
