Recreation of the splendid Mass at the Palace of Versailles! Formed in 2007 by Gatan Jari and a group named after Marguerite Louise, a relative of Franois Couperin who was an excellent singer, this album recreates the Mass for Louis XIV, the Sun King. The album begins with the king’s entrance with a magnificent march, followed by grand motets by Delalande and Lully, with Coupland’s Petit motet connecting the two, interspersed with organ interludes. The recording was made in the chapel of the Palace of Versailles, where such a mass would have taken place. Naxos Japan
