Handel loved the oboe so much that he assigned many solo parts to it in oratorios, operas, concertos, and sonatas. However, few concertos have survived, and when we think of Handel’s concertos, the organ concerto is the one that comes to mind. Counting the other concertos, there is only one for violin and three for oboe. In this album, based on various previous studies, conductor Bernhard captures the characteristics of the ensemble concertos of the time and performs them with a new instrumentation, with a focus on the oboe. This is a piece that presents a new fascination for Handel and the oboe.
