Description:

American composer Post (1949) has described the string quartet as the pinnacle of musical expression. All of his works possess a meditative atmosphere and a beautiful, nostalgic sound. His Second String Quartet, inspired by the works of Martin, the Third, written with the war in Iraq in mind; and the Fourth, composed at the suggestion of Latvikthe violist of the performing Hawthorne String Quartet and a champion of avant-garde musicand inspired by the photographs of Massachusetts photographer Morel. These works are imbued with a deep love for humanity and a prayer for peace. The beautiful fantasia based on an old Czech chorale is also overflowing with a poignant prayer.Naxos Japan
