Johann Michael Bhm, a virtuoso on the recorder and oboe, was highly active in the Darmstadt court orchestra during the time of Telemann (16811767). Telemann, who was also his brother-in-law, wrote several magnificent works for him. The three overture suites included on this album feature solo instruments performing with such brilliance that they could actually be described as concertos.
