Mancini had a long collaboration with filmmaker Blake Edwards, winning numerous Academy Awards for his music for Edwards’ films. Mancini’s music became a staple of easy listening from the 1960s through the 1980s. Mancini’s contributions to jazz were not limited to bringing jazz music to the screen or composing songs that became jazz standards.Over the years, he led groups of all sizes, including many jazz stars.
