This is a reissue CD series featuring SP records played on a special phonograph, the HOTOGY95, and recorded with a 1-bit DSD recorder via a stereo microphone.This release features J.S. Bachs *The Art of Fugue*, performed by Hermann Diner and his ensemble, Collegium Musicum.The SP records used are one of the very few sets recorded between 1936 and 1937before World War IIas a string ensemble version of *The Art of Fugue*. They include Contrapunctus 1 through 13, the unfinished fugue, and four canons.The leader, Hermann Diner (18971955), was a German-born music educator and violinist who also published his own critically edited edition of *The Art of Fugue*. While some details of Diners career remain unclear, he is supported by his co-author Charlotte Hampe (viola) and Paul Grnmer (viola da gamba), a member of the early Busch Quartet.Running Time: 55:08Recorded: September 1936
