To mark the 300th anniversary of his death in 2026, Nikke & Le Concert Spirituel has recorded his masterpiece in the instrumental repertoire, *Symphonies for the Kings Suppers*, in a unique arrangement. De Lalande secured a position at court in his mid-twenties and was soon entrusted with providing the music to accompany the Kings public suppers, which had become a popular form of entertainment at the Palace of Versailles. Originally performed by a large orchestra to demonstrate the absolute monarchs dignity and refined taste, these ensemble pieces continued to grace the royal table during the subsequent reign of Louis XV, albeit in a scaled-down form.
