• In 2020, Brooklyn’s Holy Hive introduced us all to something we didn’t know we needed. Homer Steinweiss’ barrel-chested drumming paired with Paul Springs’ soaring falsetto vocals makes for a sound that’s like a salve. Holy Hive not only skillfully layer the obvious musical aspects of folk and soul, but also draw from the more profound: They are able to take traditions from the past and make them their own.
  When Homer wasn’t playing drums for Lady Gaga, Adele or Bruno Mars, he was producing Paul’s solo folk records. Along with original bassist and frequent collaborator Joe Harrison, those sessions formed the foundation of Holy Hive. And their first album, “Float Back to You,” skillfully combined Paul’s heady, thoughtful approach to folk with Homer’s universal, classic soul sound.
